And in 2026, New York also expanded opportunities for licensed cannabis microbusinesses to participate in approved farmers markets and community events — giving cannabis tourism another potential angle.

Here's where things get interesting.

Don't assume a hotel is cannabis-friendly simply because it's located in a legal state.

A hotel can be in a recreational cannabis state and still completely prohibit cannabis on its property.

Always check the property's current rules before booking.

One of the more interesting cannabis-friendly hotel experiences is Jupiter Hotel in Portland.

The hotel currently promotes an Oregrown 420 Package, featuring an "Everything But The Weed Kit" with items such as a stash jar, Pax Era battery, rolling papers, merchandise and a dispensary discount voucher.

And yes — the package specifically says no cannabis is included.

Here's a perfect example of why cannabis travelers need to verify information.

The Lexi Las Vegas was once promoted as a cannabis-friendly hotel and became famous for its cannabis-friendly rooms.

But that's no longer the case.

The hotel's current website says The Lexi became completely smoke-free in February 2025 and no longer offers cannabis-friendly rooms.
